Tripod by Columbia Cycle Works

product2.jpgHere we go guys. Straight from Portland, Oregon is a company called Columbia Cycle Works. Their new velomobile called the Tripod is slated to start production soon. It looks to be one of the cheapest velomobiles on the road, at a cost of $7450 dollars US. For more info or to place an order go check them out at

While the design may be a little unorthodox, the premise is simple. Provide a good quality velomobile at an affordable price, that has lights, a hard shell roof, a windshield wiper, and a 500 watt electric assist motor as standard equipment. If needed to ship in the continental United States, a shipping fee of 5 or 6 hundred dollars will be applied. At that price, the electric assist is said to provide a top speed of 20 mph, which is all federal law will provide for a human powered vehicle. We will keep an eye on this one, they are certainly starting to get more and more affordable.
